Component 2: Road Safety Audit

Component 2 is reserved for road safety audit activities, planned under the Phase 12: Road Safety Audit of the Project.

The objective of road safety auditing is to identify road safety deficiencies at three stages throughout the planning and design phase of the motorway project so that the deficiencies can be eliminated or mitigated at the most opportune time to reduce costs and minimize disruption to planning and design and ultimately to improve road safety of the road environment.

The following activities within Component 2 will lead to the successful results:

  • The objective of Road Safety Audit – stage 1 is to identify road safety deficiencies in the concept design. This will provide a solid baseline for preparation of the preliminary design;
  • The objective of Road Safety Audit – stage 2 is to identify road safety deficiencies in the preliminary design. This will provide a solid baseline for preparation of the detail design;
  • The objective of Road Safety Audit – stage 3 is to identify road safety deficiencies in the final design to ensure that road safety risks will be reduced to a minimum on the road to be opened.
